It’s not easy being a DS owner over the age of, say, 14 or so. If you’re not into Pokemon, then you’re somewhat out of luck. There’s the Ace Attorney series, but I could never get into it. All a bit too Weeabo for my tastes. Plus, it’s hard for me to reconcile arguing a serious matter of litigation with the same machine that I just used to sell a fish to a raccoon shopkeeper. Trauma Center is another popular one, and far be it for me to crticize it,as I’ve never given it a shot. However, I really sucked at Operation, and I don’t see how I can be any better at the equivalent. However, there is hope for us. The fine folks at Squenix have gifted us with the direly titled The World Ends With You. while I am loathe to pass judgement on it as I’ve yet to play it, I don’t think it’s too hard to cast my vote for it when it’s recieved the kind of universal acclaim that this one has. I fully intend to pick it up and give it a shot as soon as posible.
One thing that I am qualified to speak on is the curent masterpiece and craze that is sweeping the land. The saga of Niko Bellic and the living creature that is Liberty City has been taking more of my time than anything probably should and its features, story, gameplay, and even its etc have been expounded and postulated on so much more in other places, in other media, that I will not go into it any further. One thing that I do feel like speaking on is the Gears of War 2 gameplay trailer. My Cohort and I stayed up until an ungodly hour to watch it immediately after it premiered and I think that the rest of the Western world may have as well. If I got anything out of that video, I got that we will be experiencing the most horrific of lag, and the most tantalizing slowdown. Not only that, but the video will freeze about two minutes in and the audio will march on, trudging through the fucking terrible video lockdown. The audio will survive the closeout of the video, and, if last night is any example, you will turn your system off, and you will still here the clattering gunfire and the screams o the dying. They scream for water and their mothers, and they will get neither. The most they can hope for is a quick death.
However, I can’t say that I was impressed with much more than the sheer amount of enemies onscreen at once, and the presence of one particular big ugly that was not much more than a piece of furniture in the background scenery. The cover system looks the same, there are a few new guns (no details) and Marcus looks like Marcus. According to someone (I think the CEO of Epic Games), the graphics and physics systems have been revamped and renewed to provide us with new niad pulses and an entirely new anza brush converter. Or some shit. I’m not really clear on all that. I was more interested in how absolutely uncomfortable this gaming executive looked in front of a crowd of reporters. Long story short, it looks like more of the same. And when the original needed almost no improvement, that’s really not such a bad thing.
OP out.
